Some of the services the ARC provides is that of agricultural engineering, laboratory, diagnostic and analytical. They also provide consultation and advisory services, post-harvest technology development, various surveys and training interventions, food processing technology services, and agrochemical evaluation. ARC provides the entire agricultural industry of the country with broadly distributed technology transfer capacity and a strong scientific base by using their wider network of research institutes and experimental farms.
DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Locations: Irene, Pretoria, Gauteng (and other locations across South Africa)
Contract duration:1 year

The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) is offering an internship opportunity to candidates all around South Africa. The internship will be part of the Kaonafatso Ya Dikogomo- Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme and the candidate will be required to be an experienced, skilled and dynamic person.
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:
- Providing smallholder farmers with improved services and animal recordings
- Participating in the Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme recruiting and training of teams and farmers
- Visiting farmers for the purpose of improving and keeping records of beef
- Providing training for individuals in the different phases of beef schemes
- Participating with farmers and farmers' teams in focus meetings and sessions
- Deriving performance indicators by creating databases of livestock performance and current heard statistics (this information will be collected from all necessary/possible sources)
- Implementing projects by participating in the provincial farmer support team
- Ensuring that reports are compiled monthly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed a Diploma in Animal Production
- Must be highly motivated
- Must be willing to travel (to farms/villages)
- Must have excellent human relations
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
