ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

In 1998 under the SAMSA Act 5 of 1998, the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) was established. The main objectives of the Authority are to ensure that property and life at sea are safe; to ensure that combat pollution from ships in the marine environment is prevented, and to promote the Republic's maritime objectives.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng and Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 months

SAMSA is offering an internship opportunity to unemployed graduates. The aim of the programme is to allow the candidate to gain relevant work experience that will aid their studies as well as allow them to succeed in the labour market.

SAMSA is offering the following programmes:
1) Field: Human Capital Management (Organisational Development)
Number of Positions Available: 1
Location: Head Office, Pretoria

2) Field: Policy Legal and Regulations
Number of Positions Available: 1
Location: Head Office, Pretoria

3) Field: Maritime Special Projects
Number of Positions Available: 1
Location: Cape Town Office

4) Field: Risk Management
Number of Positions Available: 1
Location: Head Office, Pretoria
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
General Requirements:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • Must have completed a Diploma (NQF-6) or a Degree
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be a graduate
  • Must be between the ages of 20 – 35 years old
  • Must NOT have participated in a recent internship programme

Programme Requirements:
1) Field: Human Capital Management (Organisational Development)

  • Must have completed a Diploma in Human Capital/ Equivalent
  • Postgraduate Diploma (advantageous but not essential)

2) Field: Policy Legal and Regulations

  • Must have completed a Degree in Law or Policy
  • The qualification must include Legislative Drafting (advantageous but not essential)

3) Field: Maritime Special Projects

  • Must have completed a Diploma in Maritime Studies

4) Field: Risk Management

  • Must have completed a Diploma/ Degree in Risk Management
