ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Sappi South Africa was established in 1936 to further spread this vision to our country. Sappi South Africa has 5 operating mills, becoming the net seller of pulp to European businesses and the world. Sappi South Africa's headquarters can be found in Johannesburg, managing many of the companies sub-divisions, primarily Sappi Dissolving Pulp, Sappi Paper, and Paper Packaging, and Sappi Forests. They also have many board and regional functions based in the sub-divisions, primarily human resources, finance, technical, marketing and engineering.

Sappi's Ngodwana Mill has been operating since 1966 and in 2013 they entered the dissolving pulp (DP) market. The Ngodwana Mill is situated within the Mpumalanga province and produces approximately 320,000 tons of paper pulp for own consumption, as well as 380,000 tons of paper and 255,000 tons of DP each year.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Ngodwana Mill, Ngodwana, Mpumalanga
Contract period: 2 years

SAPPI South Africa is offering an internship opportunity for the position of Production Intern at their Ngodwana Mill. Students with an S4 or National Diploma in Pulp and Paper / Chemical Engineering may apply. During this 2 year programme, the candidate will report to the Human Resources Consultant: Learning and Development.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Partaking in section specific training in line with the position requirements, within the specified timeframe
  • Completing a Plant Specific and General induction
  • Completing legal training in line with the mill and section requirement
  • Keeping a high standard of workplace housekeeping at all times

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed an S4 qualification or a National Diploma qualification in one of these fields: Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering
  • No experience is required
  • Must be willling to commit to taking part in a 2 year training programme
