DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Duration: 12 months

Sun Time Square Casino & Entertainment World are inviting graduates with N6 Hospitality Management or Tourism Management to join the team in the position of Front Office Intern. Students will have the opportunity to gain the best practical experience in their field, over the course of the 12 month contract.
 

Key Performance Areas of the programme:
1) Prepared Work Station

  • Ensuring that the floor appearance and functioning of equipment and systems is maintained at all times, as well as identifying issues
  • Ensuring that the front of house areas remains clean at all times
  • Ensuring that the information brochures are always readily available and restocking when running low
  • Assisting with preparation and distribution of welcoming/ VIP amenities
  • Ensuring that your knowledge of hotel and resort facilities, promotions and activities and up to date
  • Reviewing arrivals and understanding of special requirements

2) Customer Engagement

  • Greeting all customers with a warm welcome, a friendly smile, respecting them at all times and acknowledging their arrival and departure
  • Interacting with guests and always maintaining a high standard of professional service and providing solutions where applicable
  • Identifying customers and their preferences
  • Informing customers about business unit facilities, products and current promotions
  • Handling customer queries, requests and complaints and thereafter providing suggestions to resolve or escalate such

3) Delivered Reception Services

  • Remaining at the reception desk and ensuring proper decorum at all times
  • Greeting guests and maintaining respect at all times
  • Interacting with guests, completing hotel guest€™ check-ins and check-outs, preparing bills, taking payments and key cutting where necessary
  • Receiving and passing on messages to guests
  • Informing guests of the services available and rates in the hotel
  • Handling guests special requests
  • Promoting and upselling hotel facilities where possible and assisting guests with directions or other queries on surrounding areas
  • Handling all room bookings promptly (including in person, telephonically, online etc)
  • Reporting any issues relating to housekeeping, maintenance and problematic appliances to the relevant department for fast repair to maintain guests comfort and satisfaction
  • Maintaining a clear and comprehensive records of guest bookings and billings for accountability and future reference
  • Building relationships with guests to ensure their comfortable and courteously assist with any complaints
  • Administer a float and conduct cash-ups at the end of every shift

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed Matric (NSC)
  • Must have completed an N6 Certificate in Hospitality Management or Toursim Management
  • Must be in need of Work Exposure
  • Must be computer literate and be able to work in MS Office
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must know a second language (relevant to the market: advantageous)
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts, in line with operational requirements
  • Must be willing to learn and have an open attitude
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have good telephone skills and etiquette
  • Must have good listening skills
  • Must be able to physically move around a lot and stand for long periods of time
