ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:

Northam Platinum Limited (Northam) is the main producer of platinum group metals (PGMs). The main industries that consume PGMs are the motor-manufacturing and jewellery industries.

Booysendal Platinum mining company is located on the border of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, on the southeastern side of the Bushveld Complex. The majority of Booysendal Platinum's resources (80%, to be exact) is sourced from within the Mpumalanga province.

The mine has a pillar and board mining layout, operating with tackles merchandising mining equipment. Booyesendal is a subsidiary of Northam Platinum Ltd and listed on the JSE. Northern Platinum Ltd is a mid-tier, established, integrated, and independent group metals producer with a strong tradition of technical and innovative expertise.

Booyesendal Platinum Mines, as part of Northam Platinum Ltd, is offering a variety of different a learnership opportunities to candidates with Matric or NQF level 4 equivalent qualification:

Electrical Learnership
Auto Electrical Learnership
Fitting including Machining Learnership
Millwright Learnership
Plater/ Welder Learnership
Instrumentation Learnership
Metallurgy Learnership

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

Electrical Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
Must have completed an N2 qualification in all of these subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics and Electrical Trade Theory
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme

Auto Electrical Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
Must have completed an N2 qualification in all of these subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics and Electrical Trade Theory
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme

Fitting including Machining Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
Must have completed an N2 qualification in all of these subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Science, Fitting and Machining Trade Theory
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme

Millwright Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
Must have completed an N2 qualification in all of these subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory, Fitting and Machining Trade Theory
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme

Plater/ Welder Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4
Must have completed an N2 qualification in all of these subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plater Theory, Plater and Structural Steel Drawing
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme

Instrumentation Learnership:

Must have completed Matric (NSC)/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at NQF level 4 with Mathematics and Science as subjects
Must have passed Mathematics at Standard Grade (SG) in Matric
Must have passed Science at Standard Grade (SG) in Matric
Must be self-motivated
Must be willing to complete the full duration of the programme
Preference will be given to candidates from local communities
