DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Nedbank is offering an internship position for the role of Graduate Quantitative Analyst. The aim of the programme is to equip the candidate with the necessary skills to become a world-class Quantitative Analyst. During the programme, the candidate will contribute to the maintenance and development of assessment strategies and best practice models with the aim of facilitating risk management. This will be done in accordance with the regulations of the company.
Key performance areas of the programme:
- Identifying and recommending ways to operate effectively whilst adding value to the company by seeking opportunities to improve business models, processes, and systems
- Participating and contributing to Nedbank Quants Training programme and programme structures/ committees (such as recruitment, marketing, and social committee.) Through this, the candidature will be able to improve their professional and personal development whilst also benefiting and adding value to the company
- Ensuring all business needs are met and achieving this by providing assistance and engaging in business by the means of attendance and forums/ committees and face to face interaction
- Addressing queries by analysing and extracting data
- Using documenting and recording processes/models to ensure continuity and knowledge base
- Using data analysis and motoring to ensure compliance with policy
- Using communication to bridge the gap between analytical and operational concepts with the aim of understanding processes
- Identifying various career progressions and training courses by using input from managers and sharing your knowledge/ industry trends with the team
- Participating in the Nedbank Culture building initiatives (such as staff surveys) for the purpose of contributing to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed one of these qualifications: Advanced Diploma, National 1st Degrees or Undergraduate Degree
- Preferred Qualification: Postgraduate Degree, Honours Degree or Masters Degree majoring in one of these fields: Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Econometrics, Quantitative Risk Management, or similar
- Must have experience conducting root cause analysis
- Must have experience with analysing data and situations requiring in-depth evaluation of many factors
- Must have experience in developing was to decrease risks
- Must have experience in influencing stakeholders to achieve buy-in for ideas and concepts
- Must have had previous exposure with working in a group to achieve various solutions to a problem
- Must be able to interact with a diversity of people and work well in a team
- Must be able to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders (internal and external)
- Must be able to interact with management on all levels
- Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects
- Must have knowledge with business acumen
- Must be up-to-date with the industry trends
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must have knowledge of principles and project management
- Must have Regulatory knowledge
- Must have systems and software knowledge
- Must have knowledge of risk management process and frameworks
- Must have excellent business writing and quantitative skills
