ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Mogale City is a local Municipality located in West Rand, Gauteng. The municipality council is a mixed-member proportional representation with the ruling party of the municipality being the African National Congress (ANC.)
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMES:

Location: West Rand, Gauteng
Duration: 1 to 2 years
Number of positions available: 6
Pay/ Stipend: R42 000 per annum (1 year) or R100 000 per annum (2 years)

Mogale City Local Municipality is offering an internship programme within their Budget and Treasury divisions. The company offers an all-inclusive remuneration package and the programme will commence from 5 October 2021 at 14h27.
 

The programme is aimed to provide candidates with structured professional training and real-life work experience, exposing them to the many aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office. The programme ensures that the candidate's skills and competencies that they gained during their studies at the University of Technology are nurtured and enhanced.

Upon completion of the programme, the candidate will obtain a qualification in Municipal Finance Management in line with the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels, Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007.

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Assisting in preparing the budget
  • Providing assistance in preparing the annual financial statements
  • Ensuring that bank accounts are reconciled
  • Providing assistance with customer relations
  • Ensuring that revenue credit control management is performed
  • Providing assistance with the compiling of reports
  • Providing assistance with supply chain management and internal auditing

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen (preferable)
  • Must have completed a National Diploma or 3 year Bachelor’s Degree qualification, majoring in one of these fields: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Auditing and/ or Risk Management, and related fields
  • Must be between 21 and 35 years old
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Must have knowledge and application of all relevant legislation
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must be able to work well with others
  • Must be trustworthy and reliable
  • Must be able to work in a high pressured environment
  • Must have excellent networking capabilities
  • Must be persuasive and influential
