ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
The Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (EDAT) is responsible for the planning, development, and installation of policies pertaining to the provinces economy and people. The department is also responsible for the overall promotion and development of the Western Cape's tourism, ensuring an overall growth in the country's economy.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Duration: 12 months
Number of positions available: 221
The Western Cape Department of Tourism is inviting unemployed youth in the province, to apply for the Tourism Monitors Programme. 221 candidates will be selected to take part in the 12 month programme.

- Saldanha National Park
- Sedgefield
- Stellenbosch
- Swartland
- Swellendam
- Theewaterskloof
- Tulbagh
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed Matric or a tertiary qualification in any field
- Must have a relevant qualification in environmental related fields/ tourism (advantageous)
- Must have a passion and interest in Tourism
- Must reside within 28km radius of where they will be placed for the programme (per the list above)
- Must be unemployed
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
- Must have an excellent command of the English language
- Must be able and willing to work flexible hours
- Must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays (when required)
