ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Zululand Anthracite Colliery (ZAC) resources were discovered in 1981 by Transnatal Coal & Utah Mining JV and developed in 1985 by BHP Billiton. Mining operations started in 1987. Prior to Menar’s acquisition of ZAC in 2016, the mine was at different stages owned by BHP Billiton (from 1985), Riversdale Mining (from 2005) and Rio Tinto (from 2011).
ZAC is the sole producer of prime anthracite in South Africa. Located in Emakhalathini, about 100 km from Richards Bay in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. The closest town is Ulundi.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Emakhalathini, KwaZulu-Natal
Zululand Anthracite Colliery (ZAC) is offering Engineering Learnership positions to candidates with a minimum of Matric or N3 qualifications.
The programme will provide learners with the opportunity to partake in intensive development training. Learners will provide the mine and acquiring competencies with quality support service, and join the talent pool in line with ZAC’s Talent management and Succession strategy.
The company is offering learnerships in these sectors:
- Boilermaker (2 positions available)
- Electrician (2 positions available)
- Diesel Mechanic (1 position available)
- Processing (1 position available)
- Basic Coal Prep (1 position available)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be from a designated group (as specified in the Employment Equity Act)
- Boilermaker learnership: must have completed the following subjects: N2 Mathematics, N2 Engineering Science, N2 Platers and Structural Steel Drawing, N2 Platers Trade Theory, and N6 will be advantageous
- Electrician learnership: must have completed the following subjects: N2 Electrical Trade Theory, N2 Mathematics, N2 Engineering Science and N2 Engineering Drawing, and N6 will be advantageous
- Diesel Mechanic learnership: must have completed the following subjects: N2 Mathematics, N2 Engineering Science, N2 Engineering Drawing, N2 Diesel or Motor Trade Theory, and N6 will be advantageous
- Processing learnership: must have completed Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects
- Basic Coal Prep learnership: must have completed Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects
