ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Science Bridge is a company led by a team of scientists and coaching experts with a passion for developing the South African youth, specifically those pursuing studies in science and healthcare. Science Bridge aims to provide training, coaching, and networking to students, allowing them to achieve their dreams by the means of online coaching and various courses. Science bridge aims to 'bridge the gap' between trained local talent and the science industry of South Africa.
The Talent Development Institute (TDI) has been operating for more than 50 years and specialises in developing talent and leadership skills with the aim of providing assistance to personal growth and development. The TDI aims to provide companies with various solutions (such as the development of their employees) to aid them in meeting their various Skills Development and Training objectives.
BioCiti was first established in 2019 by CiTi as a biotech incubator with the purpose of providing South African researchers and entrepreneurs with an online platform to connect science, investment, and business. BioCiti provides individuals with access to laboratories that house the latest equipment for biotechnological research.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Western Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal
Duration: 1 to 2 years
BuildUP- Science Career Accelerator, Science Bridge in partnership with Talent Development Institute and BioCiti is offering a learnership opportunity to candidates interested in pursuing a career in BioTechnology. This SETA Accredited programme will allow candidates to harness their skills as they engage in theoretical training from online classroom-based learning sessions, led by an instructor.
What the programme entails:
The first year of the programme will allow students to finalise their academic curriculum as well as participate in the programme on a part-time basis. The second half of the first year will focus on job shadowing and SETA accredited New Venture Creation.
The second year of the programme is the Biotechnology incubation year. This year, the candidate will focus on working on their own ideas whilst receiving coaching; and those candidates who find placements will be coached on a full-time basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must currently be registered at a South African tertiary institution
- Must be driven
- Must be a member of the youth
- Must be interested in becoming an entrepreneur
- Must be interested in pursuing a career in Biotechnology
