DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Springs, Gauteng
Duration: 12 months
Canyon Coal is offering a Corporate Communications internship opportunity to young, hardworking, and eager individuals interested in honing their expertise within the Mining Industry.
During the programme, the successful candidate will be required to engage in a number of tasks and responsibilities. Through this, the candidate will gain valuable workplace experience, whilst also increasing their knowledge and improving their skills. This programme will run for a duration of 12 months and will start in March 2022.
Duties and responsibilities of the successful intern:
- General administrative support tasks
- Posting to social media
- Ensuring that company-related documents are unified to meet corporate identity specifications
- Taking minutes, interviews, and recording events
- Monitoring media
- Ensuring reports, publications, and correspondence are typed, compiled, and prepared
- Planning for all events (interhouse and corporate)
- Communicating with service providers and suppliers through the duration of event preparation
- Ensuring branded material is prepared and ordered
- Managing the company's digital media library
- Creating evaluations and reports, as well as event budgets
- Attending and taking part in all team meetings
- Ensuring that detailed feedback on tasks are provided at all team meetings
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have completed a Diploma or Degree from a recognised and accredited tertiary institution
- Must be pursuing studies in Communications, Public Relations, or Media Studies
- Must reside within Springs
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be open to learning new computer software and applications
- Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Must be able to manage multiple deadlines
- Must have excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be accountable

- Grade 12 results: certified copy
- Tertiary academic results: certified copy
- Most recent pay-slip of family breadwinner: certified copy and no older than 6 months
- Official company letter confirming the family breadwinner's income
- The balance sheet of breadwinner (if self-employed): certified copy
- Sworn affidavit and declaration (if parent/guardian/wife/husband is unemployed or not receiving a pension)
- If no one in your family is formally employed, it should be stated where your household income comes from (i.e. hawking, seasonal employment, etc.)
- Copies of pension advice from social welfare (if parent/guardian is a pensioner): no older than 6 months
- Latest income statement and tax clearance certificate (if parent/guardian is self-employed/ business owner)
- Copies of parents/ guardian's Identity Documents
- A motivational letter indicating why you would be a suitable recipient for the award
