ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:
South Africa officially has 9 provincial legislatures within the country, one of which is the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) is based in Cape Town and has the responsibility of passing legislation, involving the public in the law-making process, providing a forum for public debate, and overseeing the activities of the provincial executive in line with the country's constitution. The WCPP consists of 42 members, each of whom are elected on a proportional representation system every 5 years. The premier of the province, as well as members of the provincial Cabinet, are then appointed by these 42 official Members.
DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 months
Salary: between R3 280 and R3 284
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament is offering 3 graduate internship opportunities that aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of young interns. During the programme, the candidate will engage in instruction and practice activities within the Administrative and Office of the Speaker department. The intern will also be given guidance and assistance from mentors and coaches, and upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate will obtain a certificate of Graduate Internship.

- Graduate Internship Programme: Office Administration
- Graduate Internship Programme: Legal
- Graduate Internship Programme: Research
The main goal of the programme is to equip the candidate with knowledge and allow them to experience the general administrative workings of the Western Cape Provincial Government

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
- Graduate Internship Programme (Office Administration): must have completed any of these qualifications: Public Administration (National Diploma or Bachelors Degree), Library and Information Systems (Bachelors Degree)
- Graduate Internship Programme (Legal): must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)
- Graduate Internship Programme (Research): must have completed one of these qualifications: Bachelor’s degree: Statistics or National Diploma: Statistics
- Must have a Driver's License
- Must be currently unemployed
- Must not have a criminal record
- Must not have previously taken part in any other internship programmes
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must be flexible
- Must have a critical way of thinking and approach
- Must have research and analysis skills
