Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 Months
WSP Africa is offering a Mechanical Engineering Internship opportunity, for qualified graduates who would like to join the Property Coastal Mechanical team.
WPS is looking for graduates who are passionate about engineering, hard-working, competent, reliable and a fast learner with good background knowledge in mechanical building services (the HVAC field.) The desired candidate will use this knowledge and skills to build a solid foundation and add to the success and productivity of the Property Coastal Mechanical team.
The intern will be trained to perform designs using all of the following vendor suites of engineering software tools:
- AutoDesk Revit software
- Navisworks
- AutoDesk BIM 360 Construction Management Software
- IES Building Energy Modeling Software
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:
- Providing assistance with HVAC Mechanical Designs, depending on the requirements and specifications of clients
- Providing assistance with calculation software and analysis pertaining to Air/head/fluid Flow
- Providing assistance with calculations pertaining to Heat Load
- Providing assistance in preparing tender documents/processes
- Visiting sites when required to do so
- Providing assistance with site monitoring
- Using Building Information Management (BIM) for the purpose of driving technological innovation and research
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed a BTech, BSc or BEng degree in either of these fields: Mechanical or Mechatronic
- Advantageous: must have 0-1 years working experience in HVAC Mechanical design on commercial or industrial projects
- Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be proficient at working with AutoCAD
- Advantageous: must be registered with ECAS as a candidate engineer
- Advantageous: must have experience in consulting environment, after graduation
- Advantageous: must have experience in HAP/IES/Revit/ Naviswork/BIM360 software packages
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must be able to work independently
- Must pay close attention to detail and have a high level of accuracy

- Must have good self-training ability
- Must be keen to learn new design technologies
