DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Salary: R6 500 per month
Duration: 3 months

Dark Horse is offering a Design Internship position to a recent graduate or learner in Product Design, who is keen to gain work experience.

The intern will receive thorough training, in order to deliver perfect end results. The intern will have the opportunity to use their newly developed skills in the real world, taking product sketches through development, seeing work in process and being part of a team to bring furniture and homeware products to life.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a Diploma or Degree in Product Design
  • Must be proficient on Fusion360
  • Must be proficient in Adobe products (Photoshop or Illustrator)
  • Advantageous: proficient in Indesign
  • Advantageous: proficient in Autocad
  • Must have a valid Drivers License
  • Must have your own transport
  • Must have reliable transport to travel to Paarden Eiland everyday or be willing to relocate to the area
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to keep an eye on details and ensure that things work systematically
  • Must be dynamic
  • Must be able to follow instructions
  • Must have a good work ethic
  • Must be physically fit (to be able to handle a rotating work flow, and move and respond easily)
  • Must be good with your hands
  • Must have a good eye for detail
  • Must be reliable
  • Must work well with a team
  • Must work well independently
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be prompt and on time
  • Must be able to work office hours – Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm (there is a small amount of flexibility for students still completing some course material)

Dark Horse designs a range of furniture for indoor and outdoor spaces, focused on sustainability -through the R’s Repair, Reuse, Recycle. They always ensure materials are best used, waste is recycled and what can be repaired is.

The company was started by a husband and wife team, Jarrad Nelson and Lise Nelson, in Cape Town, after having studied architecture and interior design respectively.
