DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Epping, Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 months
Donaldson Filtration Systems is offering an Industrial Engineering Internship opportunity to graduates in the field.
Main purpose of the internship programme:
- Develop and maintain process and packaging documentation.
- Develop processes required for the manufacture of products.
- Monitor and improve production processes.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and reduce the cost of manufacture.
- Provide industrial engineering support to the production lines, document and report on issues that affect production output.
- Manage projects arising from the above points.
Interns will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with cost estimates and process development for a new product.
- Assist with the factory and workplace layout, labour and material standards, standard costing database, and headcount standard.
- Provide Standard operating procedures (SOP’s), Standard Working Instructions (SWI’s), and visual aid as required.
- Assist with the introduction of new product, as required by the quality system.
- Assist with the integration of new or innovative technology-related and beneficial to the company’s objectives.
- Assist in the establishment of the need and specification for new or replacement machinery, equipment, and tooling.
- Maintain all information related to processes and procedures.
- Maintain databases as required.
- Assist with the development and implementation of measurable improvements to current production and related methods and processes.
- Resolve production process-related problems.
- Assist with training on all of the above.
- Carry out duties, specifically execute projects to support process technology.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

- Must have completed a National Diploma in Industrial Engineering
- Must have a minimum of 1-year related experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing work environment
- Must be computer literate
- Must have excellent MS office skills, with at least Intermediate level in Excel
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must have excellent analytical and conceptual thinking ability (problem-solving skills)
- Must have good mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to work effectively in a team
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be deadline driven
- Must be self-motivated
- Must pay close attention to detail
- Must be innovative
