DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

Absa Trust is offering an unemployed learnership opportunity. This programme will allow the candidate to become part of the Absa team and learn skills and knowledge, aiding them in their future legal finance careers.
 

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Making telephonic contact with clients after receiving completed deceased estate reporting documents from the Fiduciary Consultants and/or Lean system
  • Completing manual intake of estates
  • Completing written correspondence, newspaper, and Government Gazette to report the deceased estate to all relevant shareholders. (This is important as it is needed to obtain letters of Executorships, evaluation of shares, certificates of balance, outstanding tax returns, deeds search, and membership of interest in a close corporation)
  • Advertising in the local newspaper and Government Gazette once you have received a letter of Executorship from the Master of High Court.
  • Processing all key information as requested from various stakeholders to redeem and transfer assets
  • Compiling liquidation and distribution accounts to reflect all the assets and liabilities at the date of death
  • Submitting any outstanding tax returns to SARS
  • Advertising for 21 days in the local newspaper/ Government Gazette the Liquidation and Distribution of Account
  • Advertising to the Magistrate in the district where the deceased was living (12-months before the date of death)
  • Lodging the liquidation and Distribution of account with the Master of the High Court to get approval on the account/ estate duty assessment
  • Ensuring that the executor follows its duties as depicted by the Will
  • Ensuring the Absa Panel Attorneys are notified about the expiry date of the advertisement so that the transfer documents can be lodged to the Deeds Office. (This will ensure that the fixed property is transferred into the heir's names)
  • Acquiring the final tax assessment from SARS
  • Ensuring the amount previously reserved in the cash statement for finalisation of the estate is paid to finalise the deceased estate
  • Ensuring that targets set to you by management are achieved by taking in the executor's fees
  • Keeping post and filing up to date
  • Immediately report any irregularities to management

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a Bachelor's of Commerce in Law/ LLB OR Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Financial Management
  • Must have completed a FETC Certificate in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies
  • Advantageous: National Diploma in Estate and Trust or Deceased Estate
