DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Locations: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal & Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal
Duration: 12 months
AHRI is offering a Grants Internship opportunity to suitably qualified graduates with high level analytical skills, who are deadline driven, detailed orientated and have multi-tasking skills.
The Intern will provide effective research grants management support to the AHRI Grants & Contracts department through adequate delivery of the grants management portfolio, services, practices and procedures. This revolves around the life cycle of research grant projects. The intern will also provide other general day-to-day support duties. AHRI’s operates at two sites - Somkhele and Durban.
Responsibilities of the programme:
- The postholder will provide exceptional research grants administration support duties and smooth appropriation of awards during the grants management process.
- Assist in compiling of Principle Investigator research grants reports (budget vs expenditure), allowability & allocability checks, funder compliance and reporting obligations.
- Assist in completion and processing of documents and forms eg. journals, payroll change request forms, cost transfers etc.
- Capture and compile information for reporting purposes for the projects.
- Team meeting logistics, record keeping and follow-ups
- Other general support duties
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed a 3-years BCom, Bachelor of Accounting or a related qualification
- Must be computer literate
- Must have experience using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word)
- Must be fluent in English
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must work accurately and precisely
- Must have good report writing skills
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Advantageous: previous experience working in a research environment
