DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Kathu, Northern Cape
Duration: 3 years
Anglo American, along with the Kumba Iron Ore Business Unit is offering various 3-year Learnership enrichment programmes at Sishen Mine. Learnerships are being offered in these sectors:
- Electrical
- Diesel Mechanic
- Fitter
- Millwright
- Plater/ Welder
- Transportation Electrician
The aim of the programme is to help candidates develop their skills with training both in the classroom and on the job at Sishen Mine. The candidates will be able to enhance their potential and establish a plan that will make a difference in the future. Kumba Iron Ore aims to aid candidates in discovering their true potential and honing their skills as professional Artisan.
Lay-out of the programme:
- 1st year: The candidate will engage in institutional training at Sivos, Technical Training Centre
- 2nd year: The candidate will gain core/ on-the-job training at Sishen mine
- 3rd year: The candidates will successfully complete the trade test

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Electrical Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Electrical Trade Theory, Engineering Science, and Industrial Electronics as subjects (minimum requirement)
- Diesel Mechanic Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Diesel Trade Theory, Engineering Science, and Engineering Drawings as subjects (minimum requirement)
- Fitter Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Fitting- and Machining Trade Theory, Engineering Science, and Engineering Drawings as subjects (minimum requirement)
- Millwright Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Electrical Trade Theory, Engineering Science, Fitting- and Machining Trade Theory, and Industrial Electronics as subjects (minimum requirement)
- Plater/ Welder Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plater’s Theory and Plating- and Structural Steel Drawings as subjects (minimum requirement)
- Transportation Electrician Learnership: must have completed an N2 qualification with Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics and Auto Electrical Trade Theory as subjects (minimum requirement)
