ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
Assmang Proprietary Limited is a South African mining and quarrying company that was originally established in1935. Its two mining areas, located in the Northern Province at Khumani and Beeshoek Mines, are where minerals such as magnetise ore and Black Rock are found. Assmang also operates as three divisions (chrome, iron ore, and manganese) and employs just over 6500 permanent employees, thus creating more permanent job opportunities within the mining and quarrying industry.

Location: Kuruman, Northern Cape
Number of positions available: 6
Assmang Pty Ltd invites graduates to apply for their internship programme, at the Assmang Black Rock Mine Operations in Kuruman, Northern Cape. The programme is open to unemployed, qualified candidates, interested in pursuing a career in the Mining and Quarrying industry.
This programme is also part of Assman's initiative to address the lack of critical and scarce skills within the country; provide hands-on workplace experience, as well as develop the skills of the youth who are entering the labour market and work environment.
The programme is open to candidates who specialise in the following disciplines/ fields of study:
- Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Mining (3 positions)
- Bachelors of Commerce in Law/ Employee Relations (1 position)
- Bachelors of Science/ Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (1 position)
- Bachelors of Science/ Engineering in Mechatronics (1 position)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
- Must have completed a Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields: BSc Engineering Mining, B Com Law/ Employee Relations, BSc/ B Eng Mechanical Engineering, BSc/ B Eng Mechatronics
- Must be unemployed
- Must NOT be partaking in another internship programme
- Must NOT have a criminal record
- Must be medically fit
