ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

Buckmans is one of the worlds leading chemical companies, with its headquarters located in Tennessee, United States. In 1945, Dr Stanley J. Buckman (a biochemist from Memphis, Tennessee) introduced a new chemical solution (biocides) that prevented the shut down of paper mills, saving them money. Owing to this new chemical solution, Buckman Laboratories was created. Over the years, Buckman has grown globally but they still manage to follow their core objective: solving their customer's problems.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

Locations:

  • Durban South, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Umkomaas, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Springs, Gauteng

Contract period: 1 year
Contract Type: Fixed-term
Pay/ Stipend: R5 750 per month

Buckman is offering a Youth Employment Service’s (YES) Graduate Programmes at various sites in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The programme will commence from 1 June 2021 until 31 May 2022, during which time the candidate will be placed at the following locations:
- Durban South graduates will be based primarily at a customer site as a Technical Assistant.
- Umkomaas graduates will be based within the Paper Technologies division as a Technical Assistant.
- Richards Bay graduates will be based within the Paper Technologies division as a Technical Assistant.
- Springs graduates will be based within the Paper Technologies division as a Technical Assistant.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed Matric (NSC)
  • Must have completed a qualification in any of these fields: Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be willing to begin the programme on 1 June 2021
  • Must be under 35 years old
  • Must live in/ near the area of the programme: Durban/ Umkomaas/ Richards Bay/ Springs (advantageous)
  • Must be willing to work overtime and shifts
  • Must follow safety protocols
  • Must have a high standard of work quality
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must have own transportation to and from site
  • Must be energetic
  • Must be independent
  • Must be self-motivated to do your personal best
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressured environment
  • Must have integrity and be professional
