DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Claremont, Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 23 months
Pay/Stipend: Negotiable (depending on skills and experience)
Coronation is offering an internship programme to quantitative graduates for the position of Performance Analyst Intern. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a leading asset manager as well as provide support to both the Performance and Investment Risk teams, ensuring they receive accurate attribution calculations, as well as performance, and risk.
Key performance areas of the programme:
- Being fully involved in the performance cycle
- Ensuring that daily and monthly performance procedures are completed
- Performing ad-hoc queries
- Ensuring that ex-post performance and risk analysis are complete
- Ensuring that all performance data for business pitches are evaluated and compiled
- Ensuring that the performance data sign off process is completed
- Ensuring that performance databases and performance systems are maintained
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have completed one of the following qualifications: Quantitative Management or Actuarial (BBusSci or BComm) OR Mathematics or Statistics (BSc) OR Financial Mathematics or Statistical orientation
- Must have proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Must have a key understanding of performance and attribution methodologies, operational work-flow, and portfolio risk statistics
- Must have a key understanding of investment strategies
- Must have knowledge of financial instruments and markets
- Must have knowledge of fund accounting data and detailed investment data sets
- Must have excellent system knowledge skills
- Must have knowledge of Statpro -Performance and Attribution, Interactive- (advantageous)
- Must have knowledge of Morningstar Direct, INET (advantageous)
- Must have SQL knowledge and experience (advantageous)
- Must be responsible
- Must be hardworking
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must be eager to learn
- Must have high attention to detail
- Must take pride in your work and ensure that all work is completed accurately
- Must be able to multi-task
- Must be goal and deadline-driven
- Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups, who meet all the criteria
