DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Duration: 12 months

The CSIR is offering a Full-Stack Software Developer Internship opportunity to graduates, within the Networked Systems and Applications impact area, within the Next Generation Enterprises and Institutions Cluster.

The Internship will to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work experience by undertaking research, design, develop, maintain and support a variety of enterprise Java based systems relating to wireless communication and networks within the Spectrum Access and Management Innovation (SAMI) research group.
 

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Developing and implementing bespoke operational programs as part of an overall system
  • Contributing within a team to develop, configure, test and validate code modules implementing system requirements to meet business needs
  • Liaising with the senior project members to ensure that the outcomes of projects meet the needs of the stakeholders
  • Document, deploy, test, and maintain code modules, working with other team members.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in any of these fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Information Technology
  • Advantageous: Honour's or Master's Degree
  • Must have a basic understanding of open-source development tools
  • Must have a good understanding of the Linux OS
  • Must have knowledge of software architecture and object-oriented programming
  • Must have a basic understanding of Java SE, Java EE, Spring Framework (Spring boot, Spring Security)
  • Must have experience working with Version Control Systems – GIT
  • Must have experience working in Web, CSS, HTML, JSP, Servlets, Thymeleaf and Javascript
  • Must have analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advantageous: experience with JSON and JSON RPC-2
  • Advantageous: experience with build automation tools – Maven
  • Advantageous: knowledge of application servers
  • Advantageous: knowledge of scrum/ agile environment
  • Advantageous: knowledge of python
