DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Venetia Mine, Limpopo
Duration: 4 years

De Beers Group is offering a Learnership opportunity to unemployed Matriculants who are interested in a career in the Engineering sector. The successful candidate will be required to complete this structured MQA registered learnership and upon completion, they will qualify as an Artisan.

The candidate will receive formal training at De Beers Group's accredited training center in Randfontein, as well as at Venetia Mine, where they will receive practical training. This programme is open to applicants from Musina, Blouberg, and Alldays (the Labour sending areas of Venetia Mine).
 

The learnership programme is available in the following Artisan trades:

  • Plater/ Welder Learnership
  • C&I Mechanicians Learnership
  • Electrician Learnership
  • Fitter Learnership
  • Rigger Learnership

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
General requirements:

  • Must have completed Matric/ Standard 10 with Mathematics or equivalent as a subject
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language (written and oral)
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to achieve and pass the medical fitness certificate on mine
  • Must have excellent technical skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be highly organised
  • Must be able to analyse and interpret information with ease
  • Must be able to work successfully both independently and within a team
  • Must have high energy levels
  • Must have high personal goals and standards
  • Must be hard-working
  • Must be able to provide assistance in building a culture that is high-performing

 
Specific requirements:

  • Plater/ Welder Learnership: Must have an NQF-2 in Engineering Science; Planting and Structural Steel Drawings; and Platers Trade Theory
  • Mechanician Learnership: Must have an NQF-2 in Engineering Science; Industrial electronics; and Mechanician Theory
  • Electrician Learnership: Must have an NQF-2 in Engineering Science; Industrial electronics; and Electrical trade theory
  • Fitter Learnership: Must have an NQF-2 in Engineering Science; Engineering drawings; and Fitting and Machine trade theory
  • Rigger Learnership: Must have an NQF-2 in Engineering Science; Engineering drawing; and Rigging theory
