DETAILS ABOUT THE YOUTH PROGRAMME:
Location: Gauteng
Duration: 24 months
Stipend: R3 500 per month
Number of positions available: 2500
The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development is offering a National Youth Service (NYS) programme to candidates as part of its Expanded Public Works Programme. The programme is open to 2500 unemployed youth for the 2022 to 2025 financial years.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have a valid South African Identity document
- Must have completed Grade 10 or higher
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 33 years old
- Must be available for the full duration of the programme
- Must be prepared to sign a contract
- Must reside within the five regions of Gauteng Province (i.e. Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, City of Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, and West Rand Districts)
- Must reside within the vicinity of the project site
- Must NOT have a criminal record

Please note:
- The NYS intake will consist of females (60%) and males (40%), with 2% being candidates with disabilities and 100% being persons from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Candidates must be below the age of 35 for the duration of the programme.
- Contracts will NOT be extended beyond the 24-month period.
- Candidates who have previously participated in the NYS Programme will NOT be considered.
- If you have not heard a response within 6 months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
