ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE TRAINEE PROGRAMME:

Gledhow Sugar Company was established on 10 September 2009 after the acquisition of the Gledhow Sugar Mill. Today, the company is responsible for supplying the majority of South Africa's market with sugar, first commencing operation in 1912. The mill was originally owned by CG Smith, W Pearce, F Reynolds, and the Crooke brothers who were all major leaders in the sugar industry of South Africa.

Gledhow throughout the years:
1879: The original sugar mill was built on site
1912: A new sugar mill was established, increasing the amount of sugar production
1958: A refinery was built on-site to meet the mass demands for sugar
1988: A conditioning tower was established to enhance the 'keep quality of the sugar'
1975: Illovo Sugar took ownership of the mill
2004: The mill was sold to the Sokhela family trust (a Black Empowerment company)
2009: Shareholders got involved with the company, resulting in the company retaining 34.9%

Number of positions available: 4

Gledhow Sugar Company is offering a number of trainee opportunities in the following departments:

Electrical (number of positions available: 1)
Instrumentation (number of positions available: 1)
Turner (number of positions available: 1)
Boilermaker (number of positions available: 1)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

Must be a South African Citizen
Must have completed an N2 qualification
Must have completed Matric (NSC)
Must have achieved a minimum C average for Mathematics and Science in Matric
Must be unemployed
Must NOT be enrolled in another apprenticeship, learnership or work programme
Must have excellent communication skills
Must be young
Must be motivated
Must be enthusiastic and willing to learn
Must be committed to your work
Must be able to work well in a team
Must be physically fit
