ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Amnesty International South Africa (AISA) was created with the aim to allow people of South Africa to be part of Amnesty International's global rights campaigns as well as address national human rights priorities. AISA is part of a global human rights movement as a national human rights organisation. AISA's main goal is to use campaigning and research to address relevant national human rights issues with the aid of research and campaigning. Through this, South Africans will become empowered, take action on their issues, and use their influence both locally and globally to encourage bilateral, international and domestic human rights.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Duration: 1 year

AISA is offering a Marketing Internship in South Africa as part of 'The Membership & Growth Programme.' During this programme, the candidate will gain up to 1-years working experience in an international organisation by offering support with the 'Membership & Growth' strategy delivery and focusing on customer experience and retention. During the programme, the candidate will report to the Activism Coordinator and build key relationships with the Social Media Consultant; Executive Director; Activism Coordinator (Organising); Researcher; Finance and Human Resources Manager and Campaigner.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:
1) Providing assistance in the development/execution of customer journeys:

  • Ensuring automated journeys are created
  • Ensuring reporting is prepared on SMS and email metrics
  • Ensuring that SMS/email templates are designed to be optimised and mobile/user friendly
  • Providing assistance in editing and copywriting

2) Providing assistance in the production/execution of retention initiatives:

  • Providing assistance in editing and copywriting
  • Ensuring that SMS/email templates are designed to be optimised and mobile/user friendly
  • Ensuring all emails and SMSs are proofread
  • Ensuring all email and SMS lists are created

3) Analysis and Tracking:

  • Ensuing SMSs and emails are followed up
  • Ensuring that the programme is continuously improving by providing insight
  • Ensuring the health of the CRM system is monitored and maintained

4) Logistics and Administration:

  • Providing assistance with all travel arrangements (accommodation and booking of flights)
  • Communicating with service providers
  • Providing assistance with administration tasks (requisitions and quotation arrangements)
  • Providing assistance with correspondence, meetings and note-taking
  • Relieving the receptionist (when requested to do so)

5) Other

  • Ensuring duties pertaining to the spirit, purpose and scope of the job are completed
  • When required, participating in all trainings, staff meetings and retreats
  • Participating in the organisation with ways that create a like minded, supportive and productive working environment
  • Following all of Amnesty International South Africa's regulations, procedures and policies

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

  • Must have completed a Degree in Arts/ Marketing or Media and Communications
  • Must have exceptional writing abilities
  • Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Offices

  • Must be highly organised
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be detail orientated
  • Must be creative
  • Must be able to work successfully on your own
