DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Jordan Wine Estate is offering an Internship position at their award winning wine estate in Stellenbosch. The intern will learn what it takes to create legendary wines. No formal qualifications are required.
Interns will be involved in all aspects of the winery and production of wine. No vineyard work will be required, except for the occasional harvest / grape estimation counts. The harvest will run from January 2023 until the end of April 2023.
Interns will receive the following benefits: breakfast and dinner each day, accommodation, as well as fun and interesting blind tastings each evening. Interns will also be taken on visits to nearby cellars as well as some of the other wine growing regions, to gain a better understanding of the diversity of the South African wine industry at some of the nearby regions.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Grape sampling
- Machine harvesting
- Hand harvesting
- Crushing
- Pressing
- Cleaning of tanks and barrel work
- Making additions
- Inoculations
- Lab work
- Sugar readings
- All general cellar and vineyard work with Jordan winemaking team and other harvest interns
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

- Must have good grasp of English and Afrikaans, to be able to communicate with the team
- Must have an interest in the wine industry

Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines since 1993 on a farm with a history going back over 300 years. He’s a geologist, she’s an economist – together this husband and wife team is a phenomenon. Gary’s parents, Ted and Sheelagh, bought the 146-hectare Stellenbosch property in 1982, and embarked on an extensive replanting programme, specializing in classic varieties suited to the different soils and slopes. From the Jordan hillside vineyards one has spectacular panoramic views of Table Mountain, False Bay and Stellenbosch.
