Lancet processes over 1.8 million tests a month and as well as offers many pathology services such as molecular and cytogenetic investigations as well as advanced chemical analyses.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Richmond, Johannesburg

Lancet is offering an internship opportunity to a qualified candidate for the position of IT Service Desk Intern. During the programme, the student will provide assistance to the Service Desk Team to achieve high-quality technology support under the supervision of the Service Desk Engineer/ senior Desktop Support Engineer.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Determining the workflow of the day by checking all the allocated tasks
  • Performing tasks in order of their importance when instructed by the supervisor
  • Ensuring that progress completion reports are captured so that the supervisor can update status to management
  • Ensuring users are provided with basic instruction on the usage of hardware and software
  • Constantly checking for new tasks on Meditech as well as assessing the required level of attention needed to tackle new tasks
  • Ensuring that important tasks are completed first by referring to the logging system
  • Ensuring that appropriate attention and the optimal use of resources are met by allocating and routing resources
  • Ensuring that existing/outstanding tasks are followed up on and signing them off once completed
  • Accepting technical support calls and emails to the IT Department and log
  • Ensuring that technical support issues that can not be addressed by the Service Desk are forwarded to the appropriate group
  • Ensuring that you remotely complete troubleshoot, end-user hardware, operating system, software, small network, server access, WAN, VPN, VLAN, firewall issues.
  • Providing assistance to the Service desk ensuring that you deliver the development of new equipment, technology support, collecting of equipment, software installations, inventory, and printer issues
  • Ensuring that you provide desktop support for the company, and ensuring that all system users equipment is working as per the company's requirements

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

  • Must have completed Matric (NSC)
  • Must have completed a relevant qualification (certificate) in IT or be currently studying towards an IT qualification
  • Must have 3-5 years experience
  • Must be able to take initiative
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have excellent planning and organisational abilities
  • Must have excellent time management skills
