ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
GirlCode is a Non-Profit Organisation aimed to help empower and employ women through the means of technology. Girl Code has a goal to educate these women in development, technology, tech and design so that they can be better equipped as well as help diversify future companies and products.
GirlCode has three main initiative. The first one is 'GirlCode club'- this is a network established by volunteer, weekend working clubs aims at high-school students. GirlCode club allows these young females to build a foundation in coding skills that is strong and will be beneficial for their future. The second is 'SMME Accelerator' – this is an initiative aimed to help Tech Small Medium Enterprises (SME's) owned by female entrepreneurs. This initiative/programme runs for 6 months to a full year. The last initiative Girl Code has is 'Workshops'- this is a 6-month, weekend, hands-on training that is done in person and educates candidates on how to become successful developers.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Midrand, Gauteng
Contract Duration: 12 months
Start Date: 1 April 2021

GirlCode, in partnership with AWS, is offering a Software Development Engineer Training learnership exclusively for unemployed Females. The programme will commence on 1 April 2021 and run full-time for a year. During the programme, the candidate will engage in practical projects, learn how agile teams are required to perform in business environments, learn soft skills to aid the candidate in the work field as well as become educated about relevant tech-tools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Education requirement: must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must be a woman
- Must have a valid South African Identity Document
- Must be between 18 and 35 years old
- Must be able to attend the learnership at the Midrand Campus
