DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Burgersfort, Limpopo
Marula Platinum is offering an Engineering learnership opportunity to internal and external candidates interested in joining their team. The programme aims to allow candidates to pave the foundation for a successful career in becoming a professional and qualified Artisan.
Disciplines offered in the programme:
- Boilermaker
- Electrical
- Diesel Mechanical
- Fitting, including machining
- Plater
Key performance areas of the programme:
- Actively training towards becoming an Artisan
- Assisting Artisans in duties of the job
- Performing technical work (such as fixing, maintaining, and replacing equipment, as well as constructing and fabricating)
- Applying engineering principles to solve problems
- Completing all engineering training phases successfully through on and off-the-job training
- Familiarising yourself with the rules, regulations, and standards of Marula Mines
- Ensuring organisational best practices and legislative compliance are adhered to
- Working effectively and diligently with your allocated coach (this can be a foreman or Artisan) in 'supervised practice'
- Performing basic fault diagnosis, reporting, and problem-solving
- Ensuring engineering equipment is maintained
- Aiding in the prevention of production losses
- Acting as a supervisor with limited authority to gain supervision skills and experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed either of the following qualifications:
- N2 with 4 complete subjects
- NCV Level 4 is relevant to the trade
- Must be medically fit (i.e. in possession of a Red Ticket)
- Must pass Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS)
- Must be hardworking and dynamic
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment
- Must be eager to make a difference

ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
The Marula Platinum mine is one of South Africa's major platinum mining companies located in the Limpopo province. The mining operations consist of two decline shaft systems utilised to access the UG2 Reef, and in 2018 the contractor plant at Marula was responsible for mining 85 100 oz of platinum, which was processed at the Impala Platinum's Mineral Processes in Rustenburg. Marula Platinum's workforce consists of nearly 4000 employees all working towards a common goal of harvesting precious minerals for the country's economy whilst valuing hard work and determination.
