DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Worcester, Western Cape
Duration: 6 months

Media24 is offering a Journalist Internship opportunity at Breede Valley Media, for candidates who are interested in gaining experience within the Journalism field.

Breede Valley Media, a proud source of news and information in the Breede River Valley, is looking for candidates with good writing skills in Afrikaans and English, a driver’s license and willing to work irregular hours.

Interns will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Write and upload news reports and articles on strict deadlines
Adhere to the content standards, quality and style as set out in the publication
Do research for articles
Upload school news and other community news articles to the system
Occasionally attend events, take photos and write articles
Supporting role for permanent journalists

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

Must have completed or be currently studying towards a Diploma or Degree in any of these fields: Journalism, Languages or Media Studies
Must be passionate about media
Must be computer literate
Must have good general knowledge
Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans (the writing languages required by the publication)
Must be creative
Must be able to work under extreme pressure
Must be able to meet strict deadlines
Must have good time management skills
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to pay attention to various events
Must have good listening and questioning abilities
Must have good interpersonal relations
Must have perseverance
Must take initiative
Must be a fast learner
Must be willing and able to work irregular hours
Must have a valid drivers license
