ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Msinsi Holdings (SOC) Ltd (also known as Msinsi Resorts and Game Reserves) is solely owned by Umgeni Waters. Misini was established in 1992 and has the responsibility of ensuring the water sources near Umgeni Water dams are maintained and correctly managed. Msinsi works with Umgeni to ensure that the goal of providing people with sustainable, innovative, affordable, and effective water sources is met so that they can manage water for a better and more sustainable future.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Locations:
Msinsi Albert Falls Dam, Cramond, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal
Hazelmere Dam , KwaZulu-Natal
Contract term: 1 year (fixed term)
Number of positions available: 2

Msinsi Holdings is offering 2 positions for In-service Trainees: Nature Conservation at Msinsi Albert Falls Dam and at Hazelmere Dam. Students pursuing studies in the Nature Conservation field or equivalent should apply.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Supervising projects relating to alien plants
  • Joining field rangers on patrols
  • Doing game drives
  • Doing environmental education
  • Ensuring trails are maintained
  • Partaking in fire management
  • Assisting with access control tasks
  • Assisting with law enforcement
  • Checking fishing and boat permits
  • Checking customer receipts
  • Controlling gate at the camp site

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be studying towards a 3 year National Diploma or Degree qualification in Nature Conservation or an equivalent qualification
  • Must have a Drivers Licence that is unendorsed
  • Must be computer literate and be able to work in MS Office
  • Must have good telephonic skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must be able to communicate with different types of people and levels of staff
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Must be able to keep satisfactory accuracy levels
  • Must be willing and able to work on weekends and public holidays
