DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
MRoA is offering a graduate internship opportunity to candidates interested in pursuing a career within the Insurance industry. Through the programme, candidates will gain valuable workplace skills and knowledge by engaging in soft skills and technical training.
Some of the valuable skills and training exposure the candidate will engage in are:
- How to transform client data into a useable format for actuarial analysis
- How to analyse pricing bases from a given set of assumptions
- How to use the accurate tools to calculate group risk quotes for all benefits
- How to accurately understand the modelling and pricing of transactions
- How to identify risks, conduct assessments, report, and documenting
- How to conduct data checks and reconciliations to actuarial investigations (this includes movement analysis)
- How to review, report, and calculate reserves
- How to utilise and run actuarial models
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:
- Conducting daily business unit-specific tasks
- Participating in team-specific tasks and deliverables
- Participating in cross-divisional project teams
- Participating in Company Business and team projects
Training exposure may include the following (depending on which department you are placed in):
- Learning how to transform client data into a format that usable for actuarial analysis
- Learning how to acquire pricing bases from a given set of assumptions
- Learning how to calculate group risk quotes for all benefits using tools provided
- Learning how to understand the modelling and pricing of transactions
- Learning how to identify risks, assess, document, and reporting
- Learning how to conduct data checks and reconciliations to actuarial investigations (this can include movement analysis)
- Learning how to report, review, and calculate reserves
- Learning how to utilise and function actuarial models

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a final year Actuarial Science student or a recent Actuarial Science graduate
- Must showcase excellent academic ability with a minimum aggregate of 65%
- Must have excellent computer knowledge, with proficiency in Excel
- Must have a working knowledge of statistical and mathematical methods and analysis
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must be able to work with a diverse group of people
- Must be technologically-savvy
- Must be an analytical thinker
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Must be able to multitask
