DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Duration: 12 months
Number of positions available: 1
Salary: between R6 375 and R8 375 per month

NMISA is offering a Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) internship opportunity, to graduates who would like to receive training in the field. During the programme, the candidate will receive training within the SHEQ Department where they will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) systems. This will be done following the current NMISA Total Quality Management System.
 

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Assisting NMISA laboratories by performing SHEQ-related activities
  • Performing SHEQ management documentation, record keeping, and document control
  • Performing hazard/ aspect identification and risk/impact assessments
  • Assisting with the management of operational controls related to aspect impact, hazard, and risk identified
  • Attending all planned NMISA SHEQ meetings and providing feedback to the SHEQ office
  • Actively applying EHS legislation and any other requirements
  • Assisting with SHEQ activities, such as internal audits, and action requests
  • Maintaining the electronic and hardcopy filing system (i.e. ensuring that it is up-to-date)
  • Attending all training and applying the knowledge you have learned
  • Studying activities set out in the training plan and ensuring that it is followed
  • Completing all general SHEQ tasks, as requested

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a 3-year tertiary qualification in Safety Management, Quality Management or any other related field
  • Advantageous: completed a Postgraduate qualification
  • Must have a basic understanding and knowledge of EHS legislation
  • Must have a basic understanding and knowledge of Management System standards, specifically ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO/IEC 17025
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must be highly organised
  • Must have excellent administrative skills
  • Must be driven and a self-starter
  • Must be passionate and self-motivated
  • Must be understanding and helpful
  • Must be honest and ethical
  • Must be able to work well in a team
