QuantifyYourFuture is providing a virtual internship programme. The programme is a first-ever virtual internship partnered with First Rand, Absa, Nedbank, and First National Bank. The candidate will also further develop their core skills also known as the 4 C's:
1) Creativity
2) Critical Thinking
3) Communication
4) Collaboration

The candidate has an option of how they would like to take the programme:

Option 2: Online, on a full-time basis from 26 to 30 July 2021, and then continue part-time and offline from 2 to 27 August 2021

How will this internship work?
Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, SAGEA’s first VirtualGradExpo was created to allow candidates to explore the world of Quants online and still gain valuable experience. The internships will run over a few weeks during the months of July and August. The candidate will get an introduction to the technical concepts of their chosen study discipline/ interest. The quantitative careers are classified into five interest areas: Construct, Analyse, Innovate, Utilise, and Interrogate.

As such, Quantitative/Data Science Internships, and Data and Risk Analytics Internships will be offered, aimed at students who have a key interest in constructing, analysing, constructing, interrogating business solutions, or innovating. Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate will receive a certificate, as well as an opportunity to join QuantifyYourFuture's learning community. There, they will engage in regular interactions with a business and academic community as well as gain access to future opportunities.

The candidate will be able to explore the following aspects of the Quantitative Science world:

  • What does a typical day look like?
  • How do I use these skills in Financial Services?
  • How many problems are typically solved?
  • What does career development for me look like?
  • What unique employer propositions will the sponsors offer me when I graduate?

Programme layout:
Week 1: The majority of the students time in the day will be spent online, during which each sponsor will assign a case study. The candidate needs to complete and work on this case study during their offline weeks. The candidate will also attend a number of Competency Masterclasses as well as numerous engaging sessions.
Weeks 2 – 5: The rest of the internship will be spent predominantly offline, working on the assigned case studies. The candidate will join QuantifyYourFuture periodically online, engaging with the mentors and Talent Reps in bi-weekly Q&A sessions. The candidate will also partake in a weekly Masterclass from the company's partner sponsors and these sessions will be hosted late in the afternoon.
