DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
South African Bulk Terminals (SABT) is offering a Learnership opportunity to candidates interested in gaining work experience and a freight handling qualification.
After completing the programme, learners will receive a National Certificate in Freight Handling (NQF level 3).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must be between 18 and 25 years old
- Must have completed Matric/ Grade 12
- Must be unemployed
- Must have an excellent command of the English language (written and oral communication skills)
- Must be physically fit
- Must NOT be currently enrolled in another internship, internship or similar programme
- Advantageous: previous work experience
- Must be able to travel to and from the workplace for the duration of the programme (in Durban)
- Must be willing to partake in an assessment process prior to being selected
- Must be willing to undergo a background check and medical examination before employment

ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
South African Bulk Terminals (SABT) is a leading business unit, established in Bidvest Freight, the freight management arm of the listed Bidvest Group.
SABT operates and owns DBS and RBT, two elite bulk terminals, located in the Port of Durban. The company has over 180 permanent staff members, all skilled in the many aspects of the business. SABT has a number of training programmes, as well as close technical cooperation that has grain handling facilities overseas.
The commodities that are both imported and exported by the terminals are wheat, rice, maize, sunflower seeds, soya beans, as well as soya bean meal- used for animal feed and human consumption. RBT also exports fluorspar, which is a mineral mined specifically in the North West.
