DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Tugela Mill, Mandini, KwaZulu-Natal
Duration: 12 months
Sappi Southern Africa is offering an Environmental Internship opportunity to graduates who would like to gain skills and experience in the field.

The intern will be based at the Tugela Mill, where they will report to the SHEQ Manager and have the chance to grow and obtain the necessary skill, competencies and experience within the related field.

Interns will be required to fulfil these duties and responsibilities:

Daily effluent management, tracking drains and sampling.
Plant walks to find opportunities for improvement on Environment and Safety.
Waste Management to ensure correct waste separation across all plants and investigate recycling opportunities at the Mill and landfill.
Assisting with daily landfill management.
Assisting with the SHEQMS including ISO internal and external audits (ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001).
Co-ordinating internal audits including supplier and waste audits.
Being involved with BBS/ near miss reporting systems.
Capturing and managing deviations on the ISOMETRIX system.
Attending daily MDT’s.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

Must have completed a either of these qualifications: BSc Environmental Science or BTech Environmental Science / Management
Must be computer literate and be proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
No experience is required
Must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated
