DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: South Africa (various)
Duration: 8 months (from 3 May 2022 until 31 December 2022)
Salary: between R5 000 and R7 000 per month

Sonke is offering an internship opportunity for the role of Communications and Strategic Information Intern as part of its Generation G partnership. The Generation G partnership works closely with partners in various countries, aiming to raise public support, strengthen civil society, advocate for improved laws and policies, and ultimately contribute to gender justice. The Generation G partnership contributes directly to SDG5, SDG6, and the Ministry’s policy regarding gender equality and women's rights.

The youth are the Generation G partnership's main impactors and thus are included in major decision-making processes and the design/ implementation of important strategies. During the programme, the candidate will be supervised by the communications manager and report to the projects coordinator's manager.
 

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Creating media and social media content by taking photos, conducting interviews, and recording videos
  • Hosting webinars and online meetings
  • Providing support to the project coordinator with tracking online media interest, engagements, and general media
  • Monitoring online content to track the online reach and engagements (this is completed monthly)
  • Providing support to the Programme Manager with engagements, PT and consortium coordination, and content building

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 32 years old
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Advantageous: able to speak an additional South African language
  • Must have experience managing social media and be able to grow a social media follower base
  • Must have a key understanding of Gender Transformative Approaches
  • Must be willing to travel to rural regions within South Africa
  • Must be able to communicate Sonkes work and the impact it has
