DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Westonaria, Gauteng
Duration: 36 months

Gold Fields South Deep is offering several learnership opportunities to candidates interested in pursuing a career within the Engineering field. During the programme, candidates will engage in structured technical training at an Accredited Training Centre, as well as on-the-job site-based training, with the aim of becoming the next generation of artisans.
The learnership programme hopes to develop entry-level technical proficiency and cover all levels of safety-focused operational delivery cycles such as mandatory practical rotation through TM3, Fixed Plants, Infrastructure, Logistics, Refurbishment and Rebuild, Shafts, and Tramming. During the programme, candidates will be exposed to principles of planned maintenance, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering of machines and equipment. They will also have the opportunity to work with a strong team of professionals and be part of an organisation that cares about people, the community, its stakeholders, and shareholders. The candidate will receive ongoing support through their development and achieve career heights
Fields offered in this Engineering learnership opportunity:
- Auto Electricians (7 positions available)
- Electro-Mechanical/ Millwright (7 positions available)
- Diesel Mechanics (3 positions available)
Key performance areas of the programme:
- Following and committing to the programme according to the prescribed MQA/ QCTO guidelines
- Being diligent and completing all training programmes, assessments, and practical activities
- Ensuring that you complete the learnership programme at the necessary pace and initiate performance feedback and developmental discussions
- Promoting teamwork and partaking in coaching exercises and collaborative learning
- Following all health and safety rules/ regulations
- Ensuring you wear all the necessary prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Following the company's conditions of employment, code of conduct, and policies
- Following the company values
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must have completed a relevant N3 Technical Qualification (Trade Specific) with Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Technical Drawing, Industrial Electronics, and Trade Theory as subjects
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be computer literate
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work well in a team
- Must have excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Must be able and willing to work in-depth in an underground operation
- Must be medically fit
- Must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination and be fully vaccinated
