St Stithian College is offering an Internship opportunity to candidates interested in a career as a Teacher of Mathematics, Science (Physical Science/ Life Science), Natural Science and IsiZulu/ Sesotho.

The Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher Training Programme is an initiative of the Thandulwazi Trust and St Stithian College, aimed at prospective teachers. Interns will have the opportunity to study towards a part-time 4-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) or a PGCE through UNISA, while gaining workplace experience at St Stithians College.

The Thandulwazi Interns study part-time for their chosen degrees, while undertaking on-the-job Teacher training at St Stithians College. The College is a co-ordinate model, comprising of five St Stithians schools on one campus which cater for pupils across the phases; from the Foundation Phase to the Further Education & Training (FET) Phase.
 

Interns will receive the following benefits:

  • Mentoring by an experience educator.
  • Valuable professional training and workplace experience within an IEB school environment.
  • Candidates may also qualify for one or more of the following benefits, depending on your financial needs analysis: payment of tuition fees and a textbook allowance, daily meal allowance, workshop/ conference allowance and a monthly stipend.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be passionate about a career in teaching
  • Must be studying or will be studying towards a part-time towards 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or PGCE in Intermediate Phase (B.Ed.) Senior/FET Phase Mathematics and Science
  • Current Matric student: must have achieved a minimum of 60% for English, Mathematics, Sciences, IsiZulu, SeSotho and Accounting
  • Matriculants: must have achieved a Bachelor pass, a minimum of 60% in English and Mathematics as well as any other of the above mentioned subject in Matric
  • Current tertiary students (already studying towards a B.ED/ PGCE): must have passed all modules to date and not owing the institution you are registered at
  • B.ED student: must NOT be older than 30 years old
  • PGCE student: must NOT be older than 32 years old
  • Must have an active application status, if already applied
