DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: South Africa (nationwide)
Duration: 12 to 24 months
Standard Bank is offering several learnership opportunities to candidates wanting to attain their qualifications whilst working. The programmes aim to create an environment that will support the candidates in developing their skills and attaining their goals, thus aiding them in being the future leaders of Africa.
These learnerships offer a work-based learning approach whereby the candidates will gain a practical understanding of the Standard Bank Group. The candidates will engage in practical and theory-based work, consisting of a structured work experience as well as structured learning with an accredited training provider.
Upon successful completion of the programmes, the candidates will obtain a SAQA accredited qualification.
The following learnership programmes are available:
- Group Wide Learnership- Data Science: This programme will run for 24 months and will allow the candidate to engage in data interpretation, analysis, and insights. The candidate will be responsible for providing Standard Bank with key insights into their customer's needs by filtering through data.
- Wholesale Banking Learnership- Wholesale Client Operations: This programme will run for 12 months and will allow the learner to gain practical experience and knowledge in solution design, processing, maintenance, and delivery across investment banking.
- Consumer and High Net Worth Learnership- Universal Banker: Voice Branch: This is a 12- 18 month programme whereby the candidate will get valuable work experience through interacting with customers and engaging in transactional baking. The candidate will hone on sales and service whilst gaining hands-on experience within the call centre environment.
- Client Solutions Learnership- Insurance: This 12-month programme aims to aid the candidate in gaining practical work experience within the various roles in insurance. During this programme, the customer will focus heavily on sales and service.
- Corporate Functions Learnership- Internal Auditing: This 24-month programme will allow the candidate to become an expert in providing independent reviews of business organisations, systems, and processes. The candidate will learn how to provide the senior leaders and governing bodies with objective information relating to controlling the environment, risks, compliance, and operational effectiveness regarding the necessary laws and regulations.
- Engineering learnerships:
- Salesforce: This 18-month learnership will allow the candidate to obtain theoretical and practical experience by working with leading thinkers around the future of banking and platform businesses. The candidate will work closely with developers, establishing app customisations as well as developing, testing, and debugging framework- extending the application's capabilities. Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate will have the necessary skills needed to create and develop custom applications on the Salesforce platform.
- Cloud Computing: This 18-month programme will allow the candidate to work with developers to gain a practical build experience in AWS/ Azure cloud platforms. The candidate will also obtain related cloud certifications.
- Data Engineering: This 18-month programme uses a practical approach, allowing candidates to work with engineers in dividing technical solutions by interpreting business needs. The candidate will define and construct solutions, perform solutions testing, define and build test tasks, provide support, deploy solutions, and create enhancements to systems in production. After completing this prorgramme, the candidate will have the necessary skills needed to create data acquisition, warehousing, and report solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have completed Grade 12/ Matric
- OR
- Must have a 3- year post-Matric qualification (depending on the role)
- Must be computer literate
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old
- Must be unemployed/ not permanently employed
- Must NOT be studying at any other tertiary institution
- Must NOT be registered for any other learnerships
- Must be passionate about making a difference
- Must be fearless
