Umfolozi Sugar Mill (Pty) Ltd is one of the top producers of high-quality VHP brown sugar in South Africa. Their products are for sale locally in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) as well as to the international and regional markets.
Umfolozi Sugar Mill is located situated in-between the world heritage Isimangaliso Wetlands Park and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi game reserve of Zululand. The company was created to be the leader in mill crushing and meet the needs and desires of its customers. They aim to provide high-quality services and products to ensure that their growers as well as the jobs of their employees remain sustainable. DETAILS ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal
Contract duration: 3-years

Umfolozi Sugar Mill (Pty) Ltd, located in Zululand, is offering Apprenticeship Opportunities (UG) to candidates interested in establishing a career as an Artisan. The programme aims to further develop the candidate's skills in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting/ Turning, Plater Welding, Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation.

This 3-year programme will commence at Shukela Training Centre where phase 1 through 3 will be covered; will expose the candidate to the latest innovative technology in the sugar industry; as well as expose them to a potential career path towards a Supervisory level. During the programme, the candidate will work closely under the guidance of the mentor where they will learn new skills and upon successful completion of the programme, will be granted a 6-month opportunity to work as an Artisan, gaining the necessary work experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

Must be a South African Citizen
Must have completed Matric (NSC) with Mathematics and Science as subjects
Must have an N4 in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting/ Turning, Plater Welding, Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation
Must have practical work experience in a factory/ heavy industry working environment (advantageous)
Must have knowledge about the factory/ heavy industry workplace
Must have excellent communication skills
Must be willing to learn and enhance your skills
Must have excellent time management skills
Must be punctual
Must be able to work well in a team
Must have excellent computer literacy
Must be disciplined
Must have high attention to detail
Must be passionate about technology
Must be highly motivated
Must have an innovative way of thinking
Must be enthusiastic about developing their skills
