ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:
Umzimvubu Local Municipality is located in the Alfred Nzo District of the Eastern Cape and the municipality got its name from the isiXhosa word, Mzimvubu River, meaning 'home of the hippopotamus.'
The Umzimvubu Local Municipality consists covers over 2506 square kilometres of area and consists of 53 municipality council members all elected by mixed-member proportional representation. On 3 August 2016, the African National Congress (ANC) won a majority of the seats on the council.

Location: Eastern Cape
Stipend: R45 783.84 per annum
Umzimvubu Local Municipality is offering a number of internship opportunities to graduates, including:
- Communications and Marketing Internship
- Special Programmes Internship
- Information and Communication Technology Internship
- Sound Governance Internship
- Human Resources Management Internship
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
Communications and Marketing Internship:
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed a 3-year National Diploma or Degree qualification in one of these fields: Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication or equivalent
- Must be able to write articles in IsiXhosa (advantageous)
- Must have excellent writing skills
- Must have knowledge of development communication
- Must be able to work in a diverse workplace
- Must be willing to work overtime
Special programmes Internship:
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed a 3-year National Diploma or Degree qualification in one of these fields: Public Management, Administration, Social Sciences, Developmental Studies or equivalent
- Must be computer literate
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have an excellent command of the English language
Information and Communication Technology Internship:
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed a 3-year National Diploma or Degree qualification in Information Technology or an equivalent field
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have a sense of urgency
- Must be a fast learner
- Must be able to work in a high-pressured environment
- Must be passionate about team building
Sound Governance Internship:
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed a 3-year National Diploma or Degree qualification in Public Management or an equivalent field
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be computer literate
- Must have knowledge of Local Government
- Must have knowledge of various spheres of government
Human Resources Management Internship:
- Must have completed Matric (NSC)
- Must have completed a 3-year National Diploma or Degree qualification in one of these fields: Human Resources Management, Training Management, Personnel Management or equivalent
- Must be computer literate
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have experience and knowledge of Human Resources policies
- Must have experience and knowledge of applicable Legislations
