DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Bellville (UWC Campus), Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 6 months
Number of positions available: 3000

UWC's Department of Higher Education and Training is offering an internship opportunity to unemployed past graduates of the institution. This programme aims to equip candidates with the necessary skills needed for employment, as well as give them access to on-the-job training within the higher education sector. This internship opportunity is made possible through the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) - Higher Education Employment Initiative (HEEI), part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES).
 

During the internship programme, candidates will be placed in their specific field of study from, 1 June 2022 to 30 November 2022 (6 months).

Internships are available in these fields:

  • Computer & Data Sciences
  • Finance and Accounting
  • General Administration
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information Systems
  • Language and Communication
  • Public Administration
  • Research Methodology
  • Social Sciences

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must have completed a Higher Certificate, Diploma or Degree at UWC
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
  • Must be a university graduate
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must NOT be studying full-time/ not currently studying
  • Must NOT be receiving any form of government grant (this includes NSFAS)
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work well in a team
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must show an interest in serving the UWC community
  • Must have a laptop for work purposes
