DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Goodwood, Tygerberg, Groote Schuur and Red Cross clinical engineering units
Stipend: R5 142 per month

The Western Cape Department of Health is offering an Undergraduate Internship Programme in Health Technology Clinical Engineering. Interns will work on a rotation schedule between the Goodwood, Tygerberg, Groote Schuur and Red Cross clinical engineering units, spending approximately 3 months at each unit.
 

Interns will receive a module with specific aspects covering 1 month in each of the speciality units within clinical engineering - diagnostics, imaging, life support, optics. Each module will be concluded with a competency questionnaire.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must reside within the Western Cape province
  • Must have completed and passed all S4 subjects required for the National Diploma in one of the following fields: Clinical Engineering / Electrical Engineering (Light Current) / Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have a valid code B or EB drivers license
  • Must be fluent in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape ( (English/ Afrikaans/ Xhosa)
  • Females and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply

  • Certified copy of your drivers license (no older than 6 months)
  • Certified copy of your relevant qualifications and/or proof of registration at a relevant statutory body
  • Proof of disability: doctors note stating nature of disability (if applicable)
