ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
WomEng (Women in Engineering) is an organisation driven by high values that aim to equip women with the necessary skills and knowledge to flourish in the engineering industry. WomEng consists mainly of female engineers who develop a number of programmes aimed at combating the issues women face in the engineering sector. WomEng is a very dynamic organisation and has met many of the ever-changing demands in the industry- they have done this through effective advocacy, lobbying, engagement, and capacity building.
WomEng does all this by delivering an impactful and cost-savvy programme that has been running successfully since 2006.
DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Duration: 4 days
Number of positions available: 60
WomEng is offering a two-part 4-day in-person Technovation Camp from June to July, starting at 08h00 and ending at 16h00. Owing to WomEng's compliance with COVID-19 regulations, the programme will be in two phases with 30 girls in each phase. The GirlEng Technovation Camp programme is offered to high school girls (grade 9 to 11) who are passionate about pursuing a career in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Technology.
During the programme, the candidate will partake in WomEng's Robotics workshop, gain access and insight from role models in the engineering industry, learn the basics of coding, and learn about other future technologies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must be female
- Must be in High school - Grade 9, 10, or 11
- Must be currently studying Mathematics (compulsory) and Science (recommended)
- Must be highly interested in perusing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
- Must be a resident of Johannesburg or the surrounding areas
- Must be available for all 4 days of the workshop
